Gala apple tree in the tropics

Look how tall it is… (ignore my rumpled PJ’s)!! I’m just about 5′ 4″… You can’t really see the blossoms in these shots though…

I still can’t believe I actually got it to grow from an itty bitty seed.

How did you grow your gala apples from a seed? Please share! I’ll look and see if it’s in a previous post. That’s EXCITING!

    Hi Miss Raw!

I started by soaking a few seeds three years ago in water. One of them sprouted and grew into that 7 foot sapling you see in the pictures. You can read more about it and the four more Gala seedlings I am growing currently in this post: http://thecoconutchronicles.com/?p=64

I would suggest you try getting apples straight from an orchard instead of a supermarket. Apples in supermarkets are routinely kept refrigerated which can compromise the delicate seeds. Good luck and keep me posted on how it goes! I’d love to hear about your experiences in apple tree growing!

Thanks for the info! Luckily, my aunt has an apple tree in her backyard and it grows delicious apples. I’ll get some of those seeds and cross my fingers! Soak for overnight, perhaps?

If memory serves me correct, mine took just under a week to really sprout.
